HP has just announced earlier today, September 15, 2015, the immediate availability for download of the ninth maintenance release of the HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) 3.15 software for GNU/Linux operating systems.

According to the release notes, which have been attached at the end of the article for reference, HP Linux Imaging and Printing 3.15.9 adds support for 17 new HP printers, including HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2136, HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3836, HP Deskjet 2545, HP Envy 4512, HP Envy 4516, HP Envy 4520, and HP Envy 4522.

Additionally, the HP Envy 4522, HP Envy 5540, HP Envy 5545, HP OfficeJet 4650, HP OfficeJet 4652, and HP OfficeJet 4655 all-in-one printers are now supported as well, along with support for the entire HP Envy 4510, HP Envy 4520, HP Envy 5540, and HP OfficeJet 4650 all-in-one printer series, and the HP OfficeJet 6820 e-all-in-one printer.

HPLIP now supports the latest Debian GNU/Linux releases

There's even more great news for GNU/Linux users who own HP printers, as the HP Linux Imaging and Printing 3.15.9 software adds support for the recently released Debian GNU/Linux 8.2 (Jessie), Debian GNU/Linux 7.9 (Wheezy), and Linux Mint 17.2 (Rafaela) Linux kernel-based operating systems.

Last but not least, various issues reported by users on the Launchpad page of the HPLIP software have been addressed in the 3.15.9 version, such as an issue where users were unable to print because of a failure of the HPLIP plugin in version 3.15.7, a hpcups assertion failure, also in version 3.15.7 of the software, and some other printing problems.

Download HP Linux Imaging and Printing 3.15.9 right now from Softpedia or directly from the project's official website, whichever suits you best. The software is also available in the main software repositories of numerous GNU/Linux distributions, so it is recommended that you install the latest version from there or keep your existing installation up to date.
