Indian developer Hike has just announced a new beta version of its instant messenger for Windows Phone is now available for beta.

“Earlier this month, we promised to bring out a revamped app for Windows Phone 8.1+. We’re happy to announce that we’re beta testing the new app starting today,” explain developers in a blog post.

If you're part of the beta program for Hike instant messenger, you will be able to download the new update for free. According to the official changelog, developers have decided to do a complete makeover for Windows Phone 8.1 devices and newer.

This is probably the first thing Hike users will notice after updating to the latest version. But there are a lot more new features and improvements included in this update that have nothing in common with the visual aspect.

New Chat themes and ability to transfer all types of files

First of all, developers confirmed they have added new Chat themes, which have been specially designed to suit each user's needs.

Another important new feature implemented in the new update is the ability to share files up to 100MB in size. This must have been among the most popular requested feature for Hike on Windows Phone.

Furthermore, Hike beta testers will now be able to transfer files of all types including notes, photos, docs and PDFs. This feature was not available to Hike users and has been introduced with the latest update.

Also, Group Chats can now take up to 500 members and feature multi-admin features for even more fun. Last but not least, 1:1 chats are now available so users can go ahead and mute a friend who is pestering them without hurting his/her feelings.

As mentioned earlier, Hike beta is not available in Windows Store, but if you would like access to the beta, you can contact the developers via email.
