This time you'll see your dog peeing on that carpet

Built to rival Google's popular Nest Camera, Kodak decided to build its own small home surveillance camera that will help you monitor what you kid, dog, husband or wife are doing while you are gone.

Catering perfectly to an American general desire to supervise one's own home, Google's Nest Cam proved to be highly successful offering accessibility, small size that blends perfectly into the environment, and great wireless connectivity together with night vision.

Apparently, Google's monopoly on such a pretty niche market has ended. Today Kodak has announced its new surveillance camera built to compete with Google's Nest Cam. Being part of the CFH-V series of video monitors, the new CFH-V20 camera features a 180-degree field of view, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) night vision and WiFi capabilities, and it also includes a built-in signal extender.

The new Kodak is cheaper and has lots more features than the Nest Camera

What's nice about the new device is that it comes with IFTTT integration (If This Then That) that basically lets you pair the device with third-party automation apps and services via its Android and iOS app. Another really interesting feature is that it gives users access for a lifetime at a one-day cloud storage at Lifetime 1-Day Cloud Storage supported by Kodak, that lets them watch any recordings from the past 24 hours.

Users that want to purchase an extended time for cloud storage upload could purchase a 14-Day and 30-Day Cloud Storage plans. Additionally, users can intelligently filter alerts either by "Activity" (reports moving objects ranging from a rolling ball, vehicle in the driveway, or family dog) or "People" (reports only human movement) to reduce false alarms by up to 98%.

It's nice that companies developed incredible ways to spy on your house, but the effectiveness of such a camera is minimal. You can only watch if your kid, dog or thieves do some nasty things in your house, but unfortunately not much else. If you've got a private security firm that takes care of your house, it'll install all the sensors they need to come in hurry anyway.

The tiny camera will sell for $150 (€133), which is $50 less than the Nest Cam.
