A new ultra-wide UHD display champion has arrived

Asustek announced the world's first and only curved ultra-wide 34" display with 100Hz refresh rate that features NVIDIA's G-Sync technology.

Being probably the most advanced monitor featuring G-Sync on the market, the new ASUS comes with 8bit+Hi-FRC in-plane switching (IPS) panel and a 3440x1440 resolution, a very impressive 100Hz refresh rate and 172°/178° horizontal/vertical viewing angles.

Although popular gaming monitors reach refresh rates as high as 144Hz, they do not come in 34" ultra-wide form factors at such semi-UHD resolutions, but mostly they stick to more conservative 1080p pixel resolutions.

However, what makes this monitor extremely attractive is that it combines very high resolution, 100Hz panel, G-Sync tech on a curved panel, having its resolution always synced with the GPU's rendering frequency, providing a smooth gaming experience.

Very impressive specs, with quite a prohibitive price

Except some specs on the paper, there are few other details about ASUS' new ROG Swift PG348Q monitor, but we can expect that as the new flagship of ASUS' Republic of Gamers brand, it should come with a DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI interface together with a USB 3.0 hub. Additionally, the new ASUS monitor has an ultra-thin frame; it can tilt, swivel and features height adjustments as well.

It's not clear, however, when exactly this new unique display will be available to the public, but it's very likely it will hit the markets in the coming months. Although ASUS did not disclaim the price of the new ROG Swift PG348Q monitor, it's expected that it might be higher than $1300 (€1300) since the combination of its features makes it a much-desired device.

However, the prohibitive price could put many other gamers down and instead chose the 144Hz 27-inch MG278Q monitor also from ASUS, or even the similarly shaped and curved BenQ XR3501 that has a smaller resolution but enjoys a higher 144Hz for about $999 (€912).
