Gamers will not need previous info to enjoy the story

Master Chief is one of the biggest heroes in the history of video games and the coming Halo 5: Guardians is the first title to bring him and the associated lore to the Xbox One home console, which puts a lot of pressure on the development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft.

The two companies have been offering more details about the lore surrounding the title on the official Halo Waypoint and via the Hunt the Truth series of podcasts, but it seems that gamers might actively ignore all of it and will still get all the story the title has to offer.

Speaking to BestGameEver Josh Holmes, the leader of the team working on the shooter, explains that, "The campaign for Halo 5 has been designed to be enjoyable as a self-contained story. We have additional details from the extended universe available to players who wish to explore and consume all of the supporting narrative, but those shouldn’t be necessary to understand the central storyline for the game."

For those players who take the time to explore the novels and the comics associated with the game there are special payoffs included, which make the entire experience superior to that offered by Halo 4, which many saw as being bloated in the narrative department.

Halo 5: Guardians will feature dual perspectives

Two recent videos introduced gamers to the Blue Team, which is made up of Spartans that Master Chief has previously interacted with and allowed gamers to get a look at Sanghelios, which will be featured in the action of a mission called Enemy Lines.

343 Industries says that a variety of themes will be explored in Halo 5 and that gamers will be able to see a lot of well-known characters in action.

The entire campaign is designed with four players cooperative action in mind, and that means each of the included Spartans will have a clear personality that they will express in both dialogue and in the way they approach combat.

Halo 5: Guardians will be out on October 27 on the Xbox One, and Microsoft offers a special version of the home console that uses the themes of the series.
