Developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are running a complex promotional effort for Halo 5: Guardians and the coming The Fall of Reach animated series is designated as the perfect entry point to the series for those who have not experienced it before.

Kiki Wolfkill, an executive producer working on the series, explains on the official site that the animation is almost done, with a final edit for the footage and the sound is in place and there are still small tweaks that can be made to the final experience.

Sequence is working hard to keep Halo: The Fall of Reach as close as possible to both the novel and the comic book, but it is still aiming to offer some surprises to all those who want to take a look at the animated series when it launches.

Wolfkill adds, "The 3D CG actually uses a combination of hand built and heavily modified assets from the game, but you’re also seeing a lot of the custom work – like seeing Chief’s Mjolnir armor design – a design that’s modeled to be authentic to the original game, but without the fidelity constraints the original Xbox had to endure. In fact, you’ll see that armor evolve in the series’ chronology."

The developer also talks about the collaboration process with Sequence and the way the score for The Fall of Reach will enhance the experience.

Halo 5: Guardians is focused on characters

The Fall of Reach is an important piece in the narrative of the franchise because it shows the origins of Master Chief and how he has connected with the other members of Blue Team, which will play a big role in the coming shooter.

343 Industries has said that each of the characters in Halo 5: Guardians has a unique personality in order to make it easy for gamers to use the cooperative campaign mechanics.

The development team also promises that both Master Chief and rival Agent Locke will evolve as they chase each other across the galaxy and find a new threat to deal with.

The title also includes an extensive set of changes for the multiplayer, introducing an entirely new Warzone experience and offering a competition-focused Arena mode.

Halo 5: Guardians will be launched on the Xbox One on October 27.
