The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are aiming to enhance the marketing push for Halo 5: Guardians to target more than the circle of long-term fans with a new television spot, called A Hero Falls.

The relatively short clip debuted during Sunday Night Football, one of the most watched programs in the United States, and will be from now on be used in other programs, although it is unclear whether there are also plans to show it in Europe.

The TV spot for Halo 5: Guardians is focused on the death of Master Chief and the way the universe of the game reacts to the news and features no look at actual gameplay from the title.

Those who have been following the official site or the Hunt the Truth series of podcasts know that the information offered is only true for a small section of the game.

Master Chief features prominently in the story of Halo 5: Guardians, with gamers able to take control of both him and his Blue Team Spartan team as they fight a new threat to the galaxy.

The information about his death is initially a move from ONI to make sure that no one but Agent Locke is trying to find the characters and find out what he knows.

343 Industries says that the extra power of the new Microsoft console allows them to develop a story that takes into account a wider variety of characters, each with their own personality and battlefield moves.

Both Master Chief and Agent Locke will have to work with a group of Spartans, and the studio wants to deliver more emotional connections and drama than in any other title in the series.

Frank O'Connor has also talked about the importance of Cortana and how he wants to explore the power of AIs.

The coming shooter will also deliver a tweaked take on the multiplayer of the series, with a Warzone experience that mixes PvP and PvE mechanics and an Arena experience that is designed for more competitive players.

Halo 5: Guardians will be out on October 27 exclusively on the Xbox One.
