Microsoft and 343 Industries confirm that they're kicking off the second season of the wildly popular Hunt the Truth podcast series later today, September 22, in order to promote the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians Xbox One exclusive game.

Halo 5: Guardians has received a lot of different details about its story campaign, which explores a new facet of series protagonist Master Chief, as he and his Blue Team go rogue. He's hunted by Spartan Locke and his own team and players will be in for quite a lot of different twists along the way.

In order to hype up the main plot of the game, 343 Industries and Microsoft went in a new route by organizing a podcast called Hunt the Truth. In it, a journalist tries to uncover a conspiracy in the UNSC and share details leading up to the start of Halo 5. The first season of the podcast was a smash hit, quickly becoming the number 1 experience on iTunes.

A new season of Hunt the Truth kicks off today

Now, the second season is set to kick off later today, September 22, via iTunes and Soundcloud, according to the announcement on the Xbox Wire.

This final series is going to lead up to the launch of Halo 5 in October and sees main protagonist Benjamin Giraud focus on FERO, the rebel leader who helped him in his journalistic investigation.

"In Season 1, Giraud was like an active audience member within the fiction," 343's Frank O’Connor says. "He was piecing together facts and false truths from week to week as he was pulled along and redirected by various sources, and in the end, we still left a lot of open questions – mainly, who could he actually trust? In Season 2, we’re taking the hunt further, from the perspective of probably the most credible of those sources – FERO."

Giraud's voice actor, Keegan Michael Key reprises his role as the journalist, but a wide array of new actors are joining in, including the famous Mark Hamill, Alan Tudyk, Bruce Thomas, and many others.

Expect to hear more about the new season soon enough.
