The MediaPad M2 has a pretty weird story that starts back in May when the tablet was showcased in France. Huawei did not announce when the tablet would be available for purchase but revealed its specs and hinted at a possible price.

Then, last month a promo of the Harman/Kardon Edition was released, which highlighted the slate's main features. Once again, Huawei did not share any details on availability or pricing options.

The good news is Huawei has finally unveiled the successor to its MediaPad M1 tablet. During an event in China, the company confirmed the MediaPad M2 would go on sale in the Mainland beginning July 16, GizmoChina reports.

Since there will be multiple versions of the tablet, customers will be able to grab the MediaPad M2 for prices starting at 1,588 yuan ($255 / €230) for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model.

The 64GB Wi-Fi only version will cost 1,888 yuan ($305 / €275), whereas the 16GB LTE model will be available for the same price. Last but not least, the 64GB LTE model has been priced at 2,288 yuan ($370 / €335).

Harman Kardon audio technology makes it perfect for audiophiles

Huawei MediaPad M2 features a metallic body and packs strong specs. The tablet is powered by Huawei's homegrown HiSilicon Kirin 930 octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz, which is paired with 3GB of RAM.

The slate sports an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio.

On the back, MediaPad M2 features an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel selfies camera.

The tablet comes with a 4,800 mAh battery and dual 1W speakers. It features Harman Kardon Clari-Fi technology and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with EMUI 3.0 on top.
