When you purchase an Android smartphone from a certain manufacturer, you can be sure of two things: the device will come with the company’s own Android skin and it will feature a host of pre-installed apps.

Let’s take the example of the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship. The phone arrives with the company’s TouchWiz interface and a few pre-installed apps like Microsoft’s OneDrive, OneNote, and Skype. The Korean tech giant has also thrown in some of its own software, like S Health.

Still, most of us don’t really like the idea of pre-installed apps that can’t be removed, and that’s why such applications are called bloatware. In the past, carriers and OEMs used to clutter the devices with such applications, but right now things aren’t all that horrible. Nevertheless, Huawei wants to know your feelings when it comes to bloatware.

In recent months, Huawei has dethroned Microsoft as the world’s third smartphone manufacturer, so the device maker is on an ascending slope winning the hearts of many customers around the world. And one of the reasons for this success is that Huawei actually listens to what fans have to say.

Now, Huawei is conducting a poll on its official website related to pre-installed apps. According to the company, some users like to have popular apps like Facebook and Amazon pre-loaded on their device so they don’t have to perform the installation themselves. Nevertheless, others view these apps as eating up precious space.

Interestingly enough, this year, Huawei has been tasked to produce one of the Nexus devices that Google will end up unveiling towards the end of the month. The phone will run on stock Android, so the Chinese device maker will not be pre-installing any applications on the handset.

So the company will probably make use of the knowledge resulted from the poll in its future handsets. Who knows, maybe the rumored Galaxy Note5 or Galaxy S6 edge alternatives which Huawei has been rumored to be working on these past few weeks will arrive devoid of pre-installed applications. Would you like to see such a scenario happen?
