14 DAY TRIAL // Curtis Gedak has had the great pleasure of announcing the release and immediate availability for download of the GParted 0.24.0 open-source partition editor software for GNU/Linux operating systems.
According to the release notes, attached at the end of the article for reference, Gparted 0.24.0 is here with some of the greatest features ever added in the application. Among these, we can mention support for detecting ZFS filesystems, as well as support for recognizing NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) devices.
Additionally, it is now possible to display a list of LVM (Logical Volumes) in the "Partition Information" dialog. Other key changes include better support for some strange characters in the label of an FAT16 or FAT32 partition, and the ability to verify if the device passed on the command-line exists, and it is usable.
Another interesting change is the addition of the blkid command as a mandatory dependency for the GParted software, as it will be used to detect several filesystems that aren't detectable using the libparted library. Numerous language translations have been updated as well as in GParted 0.24.0
Many bugs have been fixed
In addition to the new features and changes mentioned above, there were many bugs fixed in GParted 0.24.0, such as refactoring of the merging operation, a patch for a bug that affected the copy, paste, and reformat source logical partition operations and a configuration issue with libparted's non-system location.
Furthermore, the Utils::execute_command() and FileSystem::execute_command() functions have been updated to work properly, C+11 compilation support is now enabled when using version 2.45.40 or higher of the glibmm library, and the documentation has been updated with information about GParted's new dependencies.
