Numerous issues were fixed in this release

The developers of the famous GParted open-source partition editor software used by default on numerous Live CDs have announced the release and immediate availability for download of GParted 0.23.0.

Prominent new features in Gparted 0.23.0 include support for setting a new file system UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) on the Btrfs file system, support for displaying serial numbers in device information, and support for adding GPT (GUID Partition Table) partition name to the create dialog, as well as to enable online naming.

The application has been improved to no longer hang during resizing of FAT16, FAT32, HFS, and HFS+ file systems, it is now possible to set an LVM (Logical Volume Management) partition flag on supported tables, the amount of copying of partition objects has been reduced, and translations comments have been added to the setting partition flag's code.

"This release of GParted includes enhancements, bug fixes and language translation updates," says Curtis Gedak. "GNOME Partition Editor for creating, reorganizing, and deleting disk partitions. It uses libparted from the parted project to detect and manipulate partition tables. Optional file system tools permit managing file systems not included in libparted."

Several issues have been resolved

In addition to the changes mentioned above, GParted 0.23.0 fixes FileSystem object memory leaks in init_filesystems, fixes the adjustment of arcane cylinder size when resizing and copying, addresses some problems that occurred when pasting into existing partitions, prevents a crash that occurred during resize of a logical partition, and refactors the LVM2_PV_Info module cache representation and interface.

Last but not least, the Catalan, Czech, German, Spanish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Kazakh, Polish, Portuguese Brazilian, Romanian, Russian, Panjabi, Gaelic, Icelandic, Slovak, Slovenian, and Thai language translations have been updated.
