A new version of the Chrome browser is up for grabs

Google Chrome 47 was released earlier today for all supported desktop platforms, and in addition to many fixes that our resident Linux expert Marius Nestor detailed for you, there are also significant improvements for Windows 10 users too.

Basically, Google Chrome, which continues to be one of the most popular choices for Windows 10 users despite the arrival of Edge browser, includes fixes that are supposed to improve general performance and reliability on Microsoft’s new operating system.

It’s not a secret that previous versions of the Chrome browser experienced various problems on Windows 10, some of which caused the app to crash completely, and we’ve heard from users that similar issues were spotted in the recently-launched November Update as well, so this new release comes to address all the annoyances experienced in the last few weeks.

We’ve also tested Chrome 47 on our computers running Windows 10 November Update here at Softpedia, and the browser indeed appears to be running smoothly, with no issues experienced during the whole testing process.

Edge still not an option for Windows 10 users

Despite the arrival of Edge on Windows 10, both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox continue to be really popular choices among users of Microsoft’s new operating system, pretty much because of the lack of features that’s affecting the new app right now.

Edge doesn’t have extension support, at least not yet, as Microsoft needs more time to develop this feature. Pundits claim extensions could arrive in Edge sometime in 2016, most likely in the summer when the Redstone update is also projected to launch.

Right now, approximately 2.8 percent of the desktop users are running Edge on their PCs, so adoption is indeed improving but at a terribly slow pace.

In the meantime, there are several powerful alternatives for those looking for a desktop browser in Windows 10, and with version 47, Google Chrome just got a little bit better on this new OS.
