The GnuCash development team has the great pleasure of announcing today, March 29, 2016, the immediate availability of GnuCash 2.6.12, the twelfth maintenance release in the 2.6 stable series, for all supported platforms.

According to the release notes, GnuCash 2.6.12 appears to be an important maintenance build that addresses 25 reported bugs and fixes many other issues not associated with reported bugs. The full list of bugs fixed has been attached at the end of the article.

Among the fixes that have not been associated with bug reports, we can mention that multiple memory leaks have been plugged, additional improvements have been added to the multi-currency feature, as well as better localization for the Mac OS X platform, especially when the generated POSIX local is not a supported one.

"Robert Fewell has contributed changes needed to allow the 2.6 series to read files from future major versions which use GUIDs instead of names to identify matched accounts with the Bayesian import matcher," say the GnuCash developers in today's announcement.

GnuCash is more liberal in accepting custom business counter formats

Starting with today's GnuCash 2.6.12 release, the open-source and cross-platform accounting software is more liberal in accepting custom business counter formats like I64i, lli, li, and many others that have been defined in the PRIx64 and G_GINT_64 files. Additionally, splits are now correctly re-valued when changing the transaction currency.

Lastly, GnuCash now lets users reset the transaction currency during auto-completes, to match the account that it has currently opened, and the "check printing" feature is now capable of extracting addresses from bills and invoices, which can be used for payment transactions.
