14 DAY TRIAL // The GNOME developers are working around the clock these days to release the third milestone towards the upcoming GNOME 3.20 desktop environment, so we've spotted a few more updated apps on the FTP channel.
The GNOME 3.19.3 development snapshot is scheduled for release later today, December 16, but most certainly, GNOME devs will have to delay it for a day or two due to bugs that need to be fixed in the desktop environment's core components and applications.
Today, we would like to share with you some of the new features implemented in the GNOME Control Center app, which has been updated to version 3.19.3 and will be distributed as part of GNOME 3.19.3. We've managed to get our hands on the internal changelog, which, as usual, has been attached at the end of the article for reference.
Among the new changes implemented in GNOME Control Center 3.19.3, we can mention a redesigned Mouse and Touchpad panel, support for the new keyboard shortcuts overlay, better display of the empty state of a printer cartridge in the Printers panel, and the removal of the "General" tab from the Keyboard panel.
Grilo 0.3 or later is now required
Moreover, GNOME Control Center now features configuration for the Power button, requires grilo 0.3 or later, moves the double-click delay, the cursor blinking and repeat keys delay settings to the Universal Access panel, and adopts header bars for the dialogs in the Region panel.
Last but not least, some syntax errors discovered in the gnome-sharing-panel.desktop file have been fixed, along with several memory leaks. Those of you interested in testing this development milestone of GNOME Control Center can download version 3.19.3 right now from Softpedia, but please note that it's a pre-release version, not suitable for deployment in production systems.
