14 DAY TRIAL // The GNOME Project is getting ready for the GNOME 3.20 desktop environment, due for release next week, on March 23, 2016, and most of the core components and apps are currently in the process of being updated to the RC (Release Candidate) version.
GNOME Calendar is one of the most promising apps to be included in the highly anticipated 3.20 release of the open-source GNOME desktop environment used by default in numerous popular GNU/Linux operating systems, among which Fedora Workstation, OpenSuSE Leap, and Ubuntu GNOME.
The RC build of GNOME Calendar 3.20 app has been made available for public testing today, March 15, 2016, bringing several improvements and various new features, such as the ability to fade out past events, better month view drawing, as well as better display of week numbers in the Year View.
The app now supports the 12/24 hour format, no longer attempts to update read-only events, handles timezone much better, makes the Year View respect the "show-weeknumber" setting of the GNOME Shell, and automatically changes the month when the keyboard navigation switches to the next and previous month.

Last but not least, a crash that occurred when no end date was being passed by the application has been fixed, and a background is now being drawn to the highlighted days in the Month View. There are, of course, many small code fixes and updates to improve the app's performance and stability.
GNOME Calendar 3.20 Release Candidate (technical version number is 3.19.92) is now available for download as a source package from our website, but you can install it from your GNU/Linux distribution's software repositories if they contain the unstable GNOME Stack.
