GNOME's Debarshi Ray has announced the release and immediate availability for download and testing of the second Beta build of the upcoming GNOME Online Accounts software, a core component of the GNOME 3.18 Beta 2 desktop environment.

Among the changes introduced in GNOME Online Accounts 3.18 Beta 2 (see the release notes attached at the end of the article), we can mention the update of the Google announce support to ensure that the GNOME desktop will not be identified as Android, the implementation of the GoaProvider::show_account() function, as well as the ability to refresh the credentials during network changes and GNOME's startup.

Moreover, the org.gnome.OnlineAccounts.Music D-Bus interface has been added, a failure with the parallel installation has been fixed, the process_config_entries script has been updated to no longer use a non-existent variable, the configure script has also been updated to make use of pkg-config after checking its availability, a NULL pointer dereference is now avoided when the EWS autodiscover script fails, and multiple memory leaks have been plugged.

Numerous language translations have been updated in this second Beta build of GNOME Online Accounts 3.18 software, among which we can mention Aragonese, Dutch, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), Greek, Friulian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Norwegian Bokmal, French, Galician, Romanian, German, Hebrew, and Catalan.

Additionally, the Portuguese, Indonesian, Kazakh, Hungarian, Polish, Lithuanian, Italian, Spanish, Slovenian, Korean, Slovak, Swedish, and Turkish languages have been updated as well. Download GNOME Online Accounts 3.18 Beta 2 right now from Softpedia. Please keep in mind that this is a pre-release software, not ready for production use.

To be distributed as part of the GNOME 3.18 desktop environment

The improvements mentioned above, and many others that have been added during the entire development cylcle of GNOME 3.18, as well as future ones that might come with the RC (Release Candidate) build, will be part of the GNOME Online Accounts 3.18 package, which will be distributed as part of the upcoming GNOME 3.18 desktop environment, due for release on September 23, 2015.

For those of you who are not in the loop, GNOME Online Accounts is a core component of the GNOME desktop environment, integrated into the GNOME Control Center app, which has been designed from the ground up to allow users to connect to various online services, such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft Exchange, Windows Live, ownCloud, Flickr, Foursquare, Pocket, Jabber, Kerberos, SIP, and IMAP/SMTP.
