14 DAY TRIAL // The developers of the Sabayon Linux distribution based on the well-known Gentoo operating system have released new Live ISO images for the supported editions of the Sabayon distro.
Sabayon 15.08 is now available for download as 64-bit Live DVD ISO images, distributed in five different flavors, with the Xfce, GNOME, and KDE desktop environments, as well as with the Fluxbox window manager (Minimal) and a core version (SpinBase) for those who want to build their own spins of Sabayon Linux.
At the moment of writing this article, there is no official announcement for the Sabayon 15.08 release, but looking back at previous versions, we can tell you that it mostly updates several core components and applications to their latest versions available as of July 28, 2015, when the ISO images were uploaded on the official FTP servers of the project.
"This is a monthly release generated, tested and published to mirrors by our build servers containing the latest and greatest collection of software available in the Entropy repositories," was noted on the Sabayon Linux's homepage. Sabayon 15.08 is designed only for new installations
For those of you who are not in the loop, we can tell you that Sabayon Linux is a rolling-release distribution that synchronizes with the upstream Gentoo software repositories at the end of each month, releasing new live and installable ISO images for those who want to deploy the operating system on new computers or reinstall their systems.
Therefore, existing Sabayon Linux users don't need to download the new installation mediums in order to keep their systems up to date.
