Sabayon gets its March updates and security fixes

The development team behind the Gentoo-bBased Sabayon Linux operating system were happy to announce the release and immediate availability for download of the March set of Live ISOs for the distribution.

Yes, Sabayon 16.03 is here, available for those who want to install the Gentoo-based distro on new computers and don't want to download all the security patches and package updates that have been released during the month of February 2016 on the official repositories of the project, as well as for those who plan on reinstalling.

However, besides bringing new ISO images for its Sabayon users, the team managed to implement several attractive new features, such as the addition of the popular LibreOffice office suite to the Sabayon KDE, Sabayon GNOME, Sabayon MATE, and Sabayon Xfce Live CDs, as well as to rebase the OS on Linux kernel 4.4 LTS.

"Sabayon 16.03 is a modern and easy to use Linux distribution based on Gentoo, following an extreme, yet reliable, rolling release model," developers have explained. "This is a minor release: contains bugfixes and enhancements to the Sabayon distribution. We now ship the latest 4.4 kernel!"

Now shipping with KDE Plasma 5.5.4

Another interesting thing that caught our attention is that the Sabayon 16.03 release now ships with the latest KDE Plasma 5.5.4, KDE Applications 15.12.2, and KDE Frameworks 5.19.0 technologies, which are available, of course, in the KDE edition of the GNU/Linux operating system.

You can download Sabayon Linux Minimal 16.03, Sabayon Linux SpinBase 16.03, Sabayon Linux GNOME 16.03, Sabayon Linux Xfce 16.03, and Sabayon Linux KDE 16.03 editions right now from Softpedia. In the meantime, the Sabayon devs are preparing their infrastructure for Sabayon Community Repository (SCR), a special repo that contains packages contributed by the community.
