The Pentoo Team is proud to announce the release and immediate availability for download of another RC (Release Candidate) build for the upcoming Pentoo 2015.0 GNU/Linux operating system designed for penetration testing tasks.

The Pentoo developers have this custom tradition of releasing a new ISO image of the Gentoo-based distribution shortly after a major DEF CON conference. However, Pentoo 2015.0 RC4.6 was released on December 2, 2015, three months after the DEF CON 23 event that had taken place between August 6 and 9, 2015, at Paris and Bally's in Las Vegas, bringing many improvements and bugfixes.

"Now that things have quieted down from the height of con season, we are proud to release a well tested RC with an all new (also tested) installer," said Zero_Chaos on behalf of the Pentoo Linux Team. "Well this time, we wanted to do something really special. We have still been working on isos and publicly posting them, but we skipped that cute little step where we announced things without testing thoroughly."

Pentoo has an all-new installer

According to the Pentoo developers, this Release Candidate build of the penetration testing operating system ships with an all-new installer that has been thoroughly tested by the team on various real-life scenarios. Additionally, there are numerous other usability improvements implemented in the new RC4.6 ISO image of Pentoo Linux, along with dozens of bugfixes. More details can be found in the official release announcement.

In the near future, the Pentoo devs will prepare a major release of the GNU/Linux operating system that promises to incorporate a highly anticipated feature. Until then, you can download Pentoo 2015.0 RC4.6 right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version. Thus, we don't recommend installing it in production environments where stability is of the essence.
