GameStop is the biggest video game-focused retail chain in North America and the data that the company gathers about sales is very important for the state of the industry, including the evolution of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

The company states in a recent conference call with investors, quoted by a poster on NeoGAF, that during the past 22-month period, the new Sony device has managed to generate more than triple the sales the PlayStation 3 posted at the same moment during its own lifetime.

For the new Microsoft platform, the number was more than double when compared to what Xbox 360 has managed to generate.

The numbers only apply to GameStop and show that the chain has managed to attract a wide number of players who are looking for a new piece of hardware.

Both Sony and Microsoft have said that they are very satisfied with the performance of their devices and that they are looking for ways to make them even more attractive to players.

At the moment, the PlayStation 4 is leading when it comes to sales, both in the United States and all over the world, but the team in charge of the Xbox One is saying that it can reverse this trend during the coming holiday season.

GameStop is betting big on Halo 5: Guardians

The company claims that the new Master Chief-powered title, which will be offered only on the Xbox One, will generate the biggest sales for the period running from August 1 to October 31 of this year, despite the fact that it will only become available on October 27.

For the same period of 2015, Destiny was the best performer and the development team at Bungie has high hopes for the coming The Taken King expansion, which is offered on September 15.

GameStop also states that the newly launched Madden NFL 16 has a 42 percent attach rate and that more gamers than ever are interested in getting their content digitally, even when it comes to AAA titles.

The company says that it is working with both Sony and Microsoft to create bundles for all major titles coming in the fall in order to make sure that players have a clear reason to walk into a store and pick up something new.
