14 DAY TRIAL // Just a few moments ago, we were notified by Łukasz Zemczak from Canonical about the latest work done by the Ubuntu Touch developers on the upcoming OTA-9 software update for Ubuntu Phones.
According to Mr. Zemczak, the day of November 27 saw a new update for the Web Browser app, which introduced various bugfixes, a new version of the Unity Scope Click package, layout changes to the Location Indicator, as well as several improvements to the Address Book app and service.
"I also forgot to mention a big important late-evening media-hub landing from Wednesday with background playlist fixes - as mentioned by Jim, right now there's nothing stopping clients from fully utilizing background playlists anymore. Nice!" said Łukasz Zemczak in his daily report for November 27, 2015.
Of course, the means that the Music app will also be updated in time for the Ubuntu Touch OTA-9 software update to benefit fully from the latest background playlist changes implemented in the Media Hub component of the mobile operating system, which should land sometimes at the end of January 2016.
Ubuntu Touch images based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS are in the devel channel
In the same report, Mr. Zemczak informs users who want to test the current development release of the upcoming Ubuntu Touch mobile OS on their Ubuntu Phones that a new image has been uploaded today on the devel channel, based on the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) branch.
However, you should always keep in mind that the devel and devel-proposed channels contain unstable Ubuntu Touch images, which means that they are buggy and might not work as expected. While telephony, networking, boot, and shell are working well, some Scopes and apps are currently broken in these images.
