14 DAY TRIAL // The Opera developers have issued their first stable update for their Internet browser. It’s not as big as we hoped for, but at least, it comes with an important fix for a Linux-only issue.
The Opera browser has returned from its winter slumber (remember that the team is in Norway), and developers have published their first update for the application. It’s a small one with just a few fixes, but it gets the ball rolling again, and we expect to see more in the coming weeks.
Most Opera updates usually bring something new, but this latest one, attractively named 34.0.2036.47 is mostly about fixes. It’s true that some of those fixes should be pretty interesting for Linux users, especially since it fixes a renderer crash and a problem with Netflix ratio on video. If there is something that warrants an urgent fix, that’s any bug affecting the Netflix experience.
First Opera stable update in 2016
It sounds a little bit more important than it actually is, but the launch of a new stable update, even a small one, means that the developers are back at work and that we should see the browser picking up a little bit of Steam.
According to the changelog, the “Mute tab” is no longer present in the context menu, the Turbo icon has been changed so that it’s no longer similar to the history badge, the renderer no longer crashes on Linux machines when trying to play an h264-encoded movie, some issues with the Montenegrin language have been corrected, and the wrong aspect ratio on Netflix videos has been corrected.
These are some of the most important changes in the latest release of Opera stable. It’s also worth noting that the Chromium base has been updated to version 47.0.2526.106.
