The game will be initially released in Japan

Square Enix's famous Final Fantasy franchise is about the get another re-release on PC and mobile devices. The game developer has just announced that the ninth title in the Final Fantasy series will make its debut on Android and iOS mobile devices sometime in 2016.

As mentioned earlier, Final Fantasy IX will be launched on PC as well. Square Enix did not yet confirm a western launch for the game, so we must assume it will be initially released in Japan.

However, since just about all other Final Fantasy mobile game that were ported and released in Japan made their way to other countries as well.

The official announcement is not the only thing that Square Enix published, as the game's official website is now live and contains many gameplay information on the upcoming title.

It's also worth mentioning that the graphics on both PC and mobile device will be much improved, but that shouldn't be surprising considering the original Final Fantasy IX has been released on PlayStation back in 2000 and re-released as a PSone Classics title on the PlayStation Network.

Improved graphics and “game-boosting features”

Even Square Enix promises “high-definition graphics, newly added achievements, auto-save, high-speed mode, and several game boosting features.”

Some gameplay features might be changed as well, such as the battle interface, but the system will remain the same.

The trailer released by Square Enix shows some of the main characters the like Zidane Tribal, and from what we can tell, they feature high-res models.

More details about the background story in Final Fantasy IX and info on the characters that you'll get to know in the game are now available on the official website.

Square Enix did not confirm when exactly the game will be available but stated that Final Fantasy IX will only work on devices powered by iOS 7.0 or later, as well as Android 4.1 or newer.

The publisher also announced that the game might not work on some Android devices, so before purchasing the game, customers must be sure that their devices are compatible with Final Fantasy IX.
