14 DAY TRIAL // The Fedora Project has just revealed that the first Beta for Fedora 23 has been released and is now ready for download and testing. The project just got a lot nearer to the stable version and it already looks like it's going to be a winner.
It seems that the Fedora developers are finally turning the project into a reliable one and they don't seem to miss their deadlines, even if they are not enforced like in other situations. They can still delay if something happens, but it's been a while since we last wrote about Fedora being delayed, and that's a really good thing.
Fedora 23 is a good way of finding out what's been happening with GNOME, and users will find that the packages from the 3.18 branch are pretty interesting. It won't be long until GNOME also becomes stable, and we all know that Fedora 23 stable will probably be the benchmark for how GNOME is implemented.
Fedora 23 is ready for testing
Some of you might get distracted by the fact that Fedora seems to be extremely stable, but you need to keep in mind that it's still a Beta and it's not ready for production machines. There is a good chance that you won't have any problems, but there is no guarantee that things will be OK.
"The Beta release contains all the exciting features of Fedora 23's editions in a form that anyone can help test. This testing, guided by the Fedora QA team, helps us target and identify bugs. When these bugs are fixed, we make a Beta release available. A Beta release is code-complete and bears a very strong resemblance to the third and final release. The final release of Fedora 23 is expected in October," reads the official announcement.
