Facebook's Web version starts deploying the news feed prioritization system launched today with the iOS app

We only wrote a few hours ago about Facebook's recent update for the iOS app that lets users prioritize from whom they want to see news stories at the top of their timeline feed.

Facebook said they were launching the new feature for the iOS app only, with the Android and Web versions set to receive an update in the later weeks.

Apparently, the new feature is already live (or slowly being rolled out) for the desktop version of the site, at least for the 10 or so accounts we tested it with.

We first started to notice it only a few minutes ago, but the feature is practically the same thing as the iOS app but appears in different places on the site.

You can now decide from which users to receive updates first

For Facebook profiles and pages, you can see it when hovering the "Following" button, which now reveals two options, one saying "See First" and the second "Default."

Selecting "See First" will put all the stories from that Facebook user or page above your timeline's news feed, and only after you scroll through these "prioritized" items, you'll be able to see the rest of the updates from "regular" users.

Going into the hidden drop-down menu at the top right corner of the screen (by pressing the down arrow), and then selecting the "News Feed Preferences" brings the same old popup as you'd see before, only this time something has changed.

In the People and Pages sections, you can hover each entry's "Following" button and perform the same action as we detailed above, by selecting whom you want to "See First" in your timeline.

Unless you have three or four friends whom you'd like to prioritize, this is the place to go to setup your account in a much quicker fashion, without having to navigate to each page or profile in turn.
