Elephone is one of those obscure Chinese manufacturers who are starting to become more and more interesting. You probably remember that the device maker has the P9000 in the pipeline, which according to recent information will arrive in three variants.

The first one will be the high-end P9000 which features a completely bezeless design called “Zero bezel design” (if we are to look at the renders provided to us by the company itself), followed by the P9000 Lite that comes with a slim but still identifiable bezel. Last but not least, the P9000C is the low-cost variant.

Well, today, Elephone (via Giz China) is providing us with more details about the premium P9000 model. According to the information, the phone will make it out into the wild with a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.

The powerhouse of the phone will be a MediaTek Helio P10 CPU. This is the first processor from the Helio P series and is aimed at mid-range to high-end smartphones. It has a 2GHz true octa-core 64-bit Cortex A53 CPU with 700MHz dual-core 64-bit Mali T860 GPU, and it’s based on TSMC’s 28nm HPC+ process.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow confirmed for the P9000

Elephone is also throwing in 4GB of RAM and a 21MP/8MP camera combo. But the biggest news is that the phone will take advantage of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, although we’re not told exactly whether the P9000 will ship out with the operating system on board from the get-go or the company will push out an OTA update for it at a later date.

Another interesting detail is related to the fingerprint sensor. Most handsets today have the fingerprint scanner living on the back or embedded in the home button up front; however, Elephone P9000’s scanner will be located on the right side beneath the power button. There’s also a mysterious red button located on the left, probably a camera shutter activator.

Moreover, the P9000 seems to be lacking a volume rocker, which probably means the handset will take advantage of side touch controls.

The report mentions nothing related to possible release date or pricing specifications, so we’ll have to wait and see.
