Some more news about the elementary OS project

It's been rather quiet on the elementary OS front in the past couple of months, with the exception of a new Beta version that was made available. Now we can see that some new wallpapers have been added to the distro, which might spice things up a little bit.

The wallpapers integrated by default in various distros are not all that important, but a part of the community is very interested in this aspect. Users will be happy to know that the default selection of backgrounds has been updated, and elementary OS users now have some new choices.

elementary OS allows users to change the background images pretty easily, so it's not an issue. On the other hand, a lot of people also appreciate the choices made by the development team, which usually has a much better understanding of esthetics. The default selection has a much better chance of fitting the overall design.

Just update the system, and the new package will be downloaded

If you are running the latest version of elementary OS Freya, you will notice that today's update also brought a few new ones. The announcement was made on Google+ by one of the developers.

"Damn gurl, are those new wallpapers? Because you're looking fresh. (psst. New wallpapers just came in an update) ," said Daniel Foré.

He also chose to share another piece of information, in response to a question from a user who wanted to know if HiDPI support will also be implemented. The response is not exactly what we wanted.

"Real, 100%, solid HiDPI support won't be completed this cycle," Daniel Foré further noted.

You can download elementary OS Freya Beta from Softpedia and give it a spin. This is a Live CD, but if you really want to test it, you should install it and update it.
