Several translations have been updated as well

Daniel “DanRabbit” Foré from the elementary OS project has informed us earlier about the immediate availability of a new version of the default file manager for elementary OS 0.3 (Freya).

According to the release notes, Files 0.2.1 is here to fix over 20 issues reported by users or discovered by the elementary OS developers since the previous version of the software, which is inspired by GNOME's Nautilus project, as well as to update translations and add a couple of new features.

"This is a sizable release that fixes 20 reported issues and adds a number of new translations. Some of the fixes are small UI tweaks like removing the extra margins on the copy file dialog, but several of them address reported crashes," says Daniel Foré.

Among the changes, we can mention that the application is now capable of handling files that begin with the “%” sign, and it allows users to display and hide the sources list using the F9 key on their keyboards.

Moreover, pressing the Ctrl+W keyboard combination no longer leads to lost navigation, and better support for drag and drop in the Column view has been implemented in the new version of the Files file manager for elementary OS 0.3.

The brand new Open File dialog has now been implemented

Files 0.2.1 is not all about bugfixes, as it also adds a couple of new features, such as support for moving, copying and linking files using right-clicking or drag and drop. Also, the view has been modified to display pasted files on scroll.

Last but not least, the all-new Open File dialog that we reported on last month has now been implemented in Files 0.2.1, but it's not enabled by default. Those of you who want to update the file manager on elementary OS 0.3 (Freya) only need to fire up the Software Updater utility and apply the existing updates.
