It looks like Microsoft has underestimated the buyers

The Xbox One Elite controller is a really expensive gamepad sold by Microsoft, and apparently, it's selling like hot cakes. As it stands right now, the new Xbox One Elite controller is actually out of stock on the official websites and all the other online retailers.

When the Xbox One Elite controller was announced back in June, people said that Microsoft was crazy and that no one would want to buy a $150 (€138) gamepad. Well, it turns out that a lot of people liked the Xbox One Elite controller, and they bought the entire stock. It's very likely that not even Microsoft had a lot of confidence in the controller and didn't have a huge stock, but it's still interesting that it happened nonetheless.

You might also wonder what's so special about this controller, and that is a very reasonable query. The new gamepad is actually configurable in a number of ways. Users can use the new, enhanced D-PAD, or they canopt for the legacy version, they can change the analog stick with taller ones, and it's even possible to use interchangeable paddles that are not even present in the regular controllers.

Microsoft will try to resupply the retailers

According to a report on venturebeat.com, Microsoft will try to have it back for sale as fast as they can, although they probably won't be able to cover the demand for it. "We’re thrilled at the amount of interest we’ve received for the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. We are working quickly to get more units of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller in the hands of fans, and look forward to replenishing inventory in time for the holidays," said one of the Microsoft representatives.

Of course, you can still find the Xbox One Elite Bundle, which comes with a 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive for your console, but that is priced at $500 (€460).
