The GNOME 3.19.3 desktop environment is under heavy development these days, and many of its core components and applications are being updated by the hour.

Evolution, GNOME's default email and calendar application have recently been updated as part of the upcoming GNOME 3.19.3 development release, bringing over 40 changes, which include improvements and bugfixes, as you can see from the changelog attached at the end of the article.

Among the changes implemented in Evolution 3.19.3, we can mention support for displaying plain text or HTML source, support for detecting network connections after returning from suspend, support for deleting the first empty line using Backspace, as well as proper support for using the Undo and Redo functions in the composer window.

Furthermore, the notification actions are now being used only if they are supported, there's better support for large attachments, and some tooltips are now displayed much better on the preview panel. It is now possible to view all calendars, URLs now unwrap on switch to Preformatted, dragging text should now work much better, and users can now choose between inline sign and encrypt of pure text or plain emails.

Multiple crashes have been patched

In addition to all of the above, Evolution 3.19.3 patches multiple crashes that have been discovered since Evolution 3.19.2, correctly references the Mail Preferences->Junk page in the code, and adds kudos into appdata files for GNOME Software. It adds multiple improvements to the Composer window, correctly displays the values in the account and source editors, now asks users if they want to force quit the application when they attempt to re-close the main window, and implements support for passing mouse events to the parent widget in Attachment's List View.

The EHTMLEditor component has received numerous improvements as part of the third development milestone towards Evolution 3.20, especially for EHTMLEditorView, but also for EHTMLEditorSelection and EMailPrinter. Lastly, the Spanish, Portuguese, Lithuanian, Slovak, and Indonesian language translations have been updated. Download the sources of the Evolution 3.19.3 software right now from our website if you want to take this release for a test drive, but please remember that it's a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
