You might have heard of the controversial YotaPhone, a device coming out of Russia and which was the first of its kind to arrive with a dual display setup. On one side, the device featured a regular AMOLED display, while on the other side we find a secondary e-Ink display used to show notifications and such.

Well, today we get information related to another such model. Dual-display smartphones haven’t gone mainstream just yet, so Chinese device maker Doogee has identified an opportunity here.

The folks at Tech Gadgetsz have managed to get their hands on an image showcasing the specifications of an upcoming phone called the DG700 Pro that will arrive with a dual-display setup.

The DG700 Pro should make a debut with two 5-inch displays, both taking advantage of 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Under the screen lies a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6795 SoC working in combination with Power VG200 GPU.

Doogee will tempt users with several variants of the DG700 Pro

Doogee will put two variants of the phone on the market: one arriving with 3GB of RAM on board and one aimed at more advanced users and bundled with a hefty 4GB of RAM.

Since the phone will make a debut with two displays, the manufacturer is expected to use a battery capable of sustaining the life of the duo. So the DG700 Pro will make it out into retail with a powerful 6,000 mAh battery under the hood.

Additionally, the phone will be powered by the latest in terms of software, meaning it will arrive with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. And Doogee might also provide the Android M update for the handset when the time comes.

This is actually the second phone hailing under the Doogee banner that arrives into the wild with a 6,000 mAh battery, as the S6000 was also launched with such a unit under the hood. But unlike the DG700 Pro, the S6000 only has to sustain a 5.5-inch display. That’s why the phone will be able to deliver a battery life of up to two days, before requiring to pop in for a charge.

The Doogee DG700 Pro is expected to arrive on the market sometime in September with the super affordable price tag of $236 / €210.

Updated: a render of Doogee DG700 popped up online and shows the phone as having a leather back. No trace of the secondary display. Could it be hidden?
