The well-known and widely used Docker open-source container engine for GNU/Linux operating system has recently been updated to version 1.7.1, a release that fixes over 15 issues reported by users since the announcement of Docker 1.7.

According to the changelog, which we have attached at the end of the article for reference, Docker 1.7.1 is here to fix creation of bridge interfaces on the CentOS 6.6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.6 operating systems, as well as to remove various issues with socket connections that get hanged very often.

Docker 1.7 contained issues with spawning of the exec process by the default user, so these have been fixed in Docker 1.7.1. There are also fixes for an issue related to implicit selection of devicemapper with static binaries, a problem with the "copy" command during mounting of volumes, and an issue with local DNS lookups being added to the resolv.conf file.

The networking statistics are now correctly published, the "--bridge=none" argument has been modified to no longer configure the network bridge, read and write privilege issues in the volumes mounted with the "--volumes-from" argument have been fixed, and it is now possible to pull private images.

The remote API has received several improvements

The Docker remote API (Application Programming Interface) has received various improvements, such as a fix for unmarshalling of the Entrypoint and Command functions, support for validating port specifications, support for returning proper error messages when attaching or reattaching fails, as well as support for setting the limit for the minimum client version supported by the software.

Fallback between version 2 and 1 of the registry has been fixed as well. Download Docker 1.7.1 right now via Softpedia or directly from the official website of the project, where you can find more details about the software.
