Divinity Original Sin, a role-playing game developed by Larian Studios LLC is finally landing on the Linux platform.

One of the promises made by the Larian Studios regarding Divinity Original Sin was about Linux support, and it looks like that's finally going to happen. It took the developers quite a long time to reach this stage, but they didn't forget about it. The community has been asking for the Linux port since the launch of the game, back in June 2014.

In fact, the developers from Larian Studios are trying to hit two birds with one stone. They have been working on a new Enhanced Edition for the game, and this is the version that is going to land for Linux users. The changes made to the Enhanced Edition are pretty big, so it's likely that they saved a lot of time by porting this release and not the previous one.

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition to be here soon

The first platforms that will get the Enhanced Edition will be PC, PS4 and Xbox One and that will happen on October 27, but Mac and Linux will soon follow afterwards.

"Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition will be out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 27. Mac and Linux will be right on their tail, arriving at the beginning of December as we finalise the ports. We know it's been quite a wait, but it'll be worth it!" wrote the developers on the official Kickstarter entry.

The Linux port wouldn’t have been such an important problem if the developers hadn't mentioned it from the start. If they had just said that they might look at a Linux port sometime in the future, it would have been fine, but they also needed the Linux gamers' money. Now, it looks like the Linux gamers will finally be able to play it.

The Enhanced Edition is pretty different from the regular one, here is a video with all the details you'll need.
