The new title doesn't repeat Human Revolution's ending

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided developer Eidos Montreal confirms that the upcoming title won't bring back the ending of Human Revolution. Instead of letting players just make arbitrary choices right at the end of the plot, like in the previous game, the new title will integrate choices throughout the story.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution brought the old cyberpunk role-playing game series back into the mainstream, after years of dormancy. While it offered some great story sequences, the actual ending more or less allowed players to press one of three different buttons and then see how their choice made an impact on the conclusion of the plot.

Mankind Divided offers big choices throughout the plot, not just at the end

For Mankind Divided, Eidos Montreal won't pull out that old strategy. Instead, the studio is going to implement some of these important choices throughout the story. So instead of just making a certain number of decisions at the end, Producer Olivier Proulx explains to PCGamesN that choices made during the story will affect the ones that appear towards the end of the plot.

"We don’t want to have a 'choose your ending' at the end of the game, but it’s complex to build organically, the choice of the players, and have it reflected towards the end of the game. I’m not going to say how many endings we have; there’s a few, and obviously the choices in the last map in the game will have a big impact, but the decisions you make earlier can be used to affect the last parts of the game. So, much earlier decisions impact you right until the end," he explains.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set to roll out across the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms on February 23, 2016. You can expect more accurate details about the story of the cyberpunk RPG to appear as we get closer to its actual release.
