There are more weapons balance changes coming

Video game developer Bungie has already revealed that it plans to introduce microtransactions to Destiny on October 13, but it seems that the studio has a bigger number of changes in mind for the coming period, with patch 2.01 for the social shooter set to arrive next week with various tweaks.

The company has tracked the way gamers have been behaving in the Crucible since the big change of the update associated with The Taken King arrived, and they are planning a number of sandbox modifications, with plenty of them focused on weapon balance.

Jon Weisnewski, a senior designer, explains on the official site that the gun meta is still settling, but plenty of data and feedback have already arrived, allowing Bungie to prepare some changes, including modifications to how shotguns work.

The developer explains, "With the deployment of Update 2.0.1, we will wholesale remove the Shot Package perk from all Shotguns. Any shotgun with Shot Package (depending on the exact weapon) will now have Close and/or Personal, Crowd Control, or Knee Pads. This change has not negatively impacted our PVE playtests."

Bungie believes that shotguns will continue to be one of the core weapons for those who play in the Crucible, but the studio aims to create a better overall balance and to allow other tactics to become effective.

Destiny is moving to a microtransactions-featured future

On October 13, the Eververse Trading Company will come online, allowing gamers to invest real-world money to get the new Silver currency, which can then be spent on thirteen new emotes that will only have a cosmetic impact.

Bungie says that it will give the entire player base some of the new currency to make sure that they can try one or two of them out and see whether they might want to purchase more in the future.

The shift towards microtransactions means that the development team will then be able to deliver a range of new missions and quests for free.

Apparently, a new major content packs will be offered every few months, and Bungie is also working to deliver patches and hotfix as soon as the community identifies problems or imbalances that need to be addressed.

An entirely new Destiny title is expected to arrive in late 2016.
