Bungie wants gamers to remain engaged with end-game modes

The development team at Bungie has already explained how it is planning to deliver a new big six man raid in the coming The Taken King expansion in order to challenge gamers, but the company wants players to remain interested in the social shooter even after they finish the core story experience centered on Oryx.

In a new Weekly Update, Luke Smith, who is leading design on the end game activities, explains that for Nightfall the team has learned a lot from the way players have approached the experience and have tweaked the mode in order to require level 40.

Fireteams are no longer sent to orbit when they wipe, and player death now carries a 30-second time-out penalty.

For the Weekly Heroic Strikes in Destiny, the team is introducing a change to the Vanguard Heroic Playlist.

Bungie states, "Each week players receive bonus Legendary Marks from the Weekly Heroic Playlist. These awards are received at the Account level rather than the character level - as was the case with Year One Weekly Heroic Rewards."

The level requirement is also set at 40, and no cap is linked to the Legendary Marks that can be earned, with gamers guaranteed to get a Legendary Engram once they first clear the mode.

Nightfall tier rewards are also offered for gamers who get through the True Meaning of War bounty that Lord Shaxx will offer.

Destiny will make it easier for gamers to have multiple Guardians

The Daily Heroic and PvP rewards have been increased and are now linked to the entire account rather than a character, in order to make sure that the game does not seem like a chore to those who are running multiple characters.

The company has already announced that, when it comes to Guardian progression, the classic experience will be more important and Light Levels will become relevant when gamers have to enter certain activities.

Bungie says that it has received a lot of feedback about the core mechanics of Destiny and wants to satisfy as many gamers as possible during the second year of the shooter's life.

The Taken King for Destiny will be launched on September 15 and can be played on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and older home consoles.
