The studio wants players to hunt down some developers

The development team at Bungie is announcing that it plans to deploy the long-awaited February update for Destiny starting at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time today, Tuesday, February 9, and that it is then aiming to launch a new installment of the popular Bungie Bounty event for the social shooter.

The official site announcement is not saying how long the changes made to the game will require being distributed to the entire community, but once the studio confirms that everything has gone smoothly, it is planning to invite the community to hunt down members of the development team.

The Bungie Bounty event will use the Crimson Doubles mode and will run only on the PlayStation 4 from Sony from 12 PM to 2 PM Pacific Time, with all the action streamed via Twitch for the entire player community to watch.

Leif Johansen, a senior designer, working on Destiny, is one of the game creators who players will be able to take out to secure an exclusive emblem for their Guardian.

The official announcement adds, "He led the creative process for Crimson Doubles, so this is your chance to beat a man at his own game - quite literally. If you can defeat us on our rose-petal strewn field of battle, we'll decorate your inventory with this marvelous bauble."

Crimson Days will run for a seven-day period and is centered around the new 2 versus 2 game mode that allows players who lose their partner in battle to activate a Broken Heart power that gives them a chance to get revenge and win the match.

The new event will allow the community to pick up new shaders and emblems as rewards, and there are also new emotes that those willing to use real world money can get at the Eververse Trading Company.

Destiny is planning for a bigger event later in the spring

Crimson Days represents the first time Bungie is celebrating Valentine's Day, but many in the player community are unhappy with the limited amount of new activities that they are getting access to.

The studio is promising that a bigger update for the title will be offered before the end of spring and will introduce about the same amount of content as The Taken King expansion, although it is unclear whether that includes new strikes and an extra raid.

Bungie has sent out a survey that asks players why they are no longer interested in playing Destiny and what it takes to keep them engaged in the long term.

It seems that plans are being drawn up to deliver a range of new content for the social shooter, mostly for free, for the rest of the year, funded by revenue from the real world money transactions.

A rumor states that a sequel to Destiny was being planned for September of 2016 on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, but the team and publisher Activision decided to delay to make sure that it offers the quality the player community is expecting.
