Video game developer Bungie is announcing that the PlayStation 4 and the PS3 versions of Destiny are currently affected by some connectivity issues and that it is investigating in order to find the cause of the problems and eliminate it.

The information comes from the official support Twitter account of the title, but there is no info on why the Sony home consoles are affected and no problems are apparently reported on the Xbox One and the 360.

The official status site for the PlayStation Network is also reporting issues at the moment, which means that Sony will also be working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.

Bungie is not saying when full functionality might be restored for Destiny, which is a bad sign for the community playing on Sony devices.

Since launch, the social shooter has been offering extra content on the PlayStation 4 and the PS3, with more strikes and exclusive weapons.

Those that were delivered when Destiny was first introduced will be offered to the entire community on September 15, with some tweaks that are designed to improve the overall experience.

The Taken King is coming this fall to the shooter

The second big expansion that will be introduced this year is designed to be the biggest new content drop for the title since it was first introduced.

The Taken King will focus on Oryx, a new powerful boss that is coming back in order to deal with the Guardians who have killed his son Crota.

His dreadnought is designed to offer an entirely new location to explore, which will feature some entirely new mechanics, and a set of improved enemies will also be introduced.

A new subclass will be added to Destiny, offering gamers more options for long-term development, and there are also better weapons and more items that gamers will be able to use.

The Crucible is also getting more modes and an increased array of available loot.

Bungie claims that The Taken King is designed to make the entire title feel new, and one of the biggest tweaks will be associated with the narrative structure and the way quests will be used to guide the player through it.

UPDATE: Both the issues affecting Destiny and those plaguing the PSN have been solved for most players.
