Gamers will have to deal with bosses in unique ways

Video game developer Bungie might be getting ready for Thanksgiving, but the company still has time to deliver information on the changes that they will make to the social shooter during the month of December, including something new for those who love the raid experience.

Gavin Irby, who is a lead designer working on the title, explains on the official site that a set of Challenge Modes is being introduced for the King's Fall experience, offering the most capable players new ways to interact with the bosses and presumably more rewards to earn.

The game creator explains that "one of the King’s Fall bosses will offer their challenge each week. You’ll see which boss when you select the Raid in the Director. It will display next to a skull, just like one of our Nightfall modifiers. They work on both normal and hard mode, and offer rewards to match."

Gamers will have to discover how each of the bosses can be defeated and will then have to tweak their strategies to execute a perfect battle plan.

It's unclear whether the Challenges Mode for the King's Fall raid is designed to run for only one month or if Destiny has plans to run it indefinitely so that as many gamers can get the rewards associated with it.

It seems that Bungie has no plans to introduce a similar experience for the other big raids in Destiny.

Balance for Player versus Player will also be improved

Derek Carroll, the senior designer, working on Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, says that his team is monitoring a range of data linked to the shooter and that it is ready to address any imbalance.

He explains that spawns do not have a big impact on asymmetric maps, which means that Bungie has no plans to introduce any changes to the system in the coming months.

The developer also says that gamers who are interested in the Iron Banner experience should be aiming to have 303 or higher Light levels to be competitive, which means that they need to move fast to get access to better gear for their Guardians.

Bungie has long said that it is using both tracked data and feedback from the community to choose what changes it will make to the Player versus Player side of Destiny.

In December, fans of the shooter will get access to another big update, probably around the 15th, which will focus on the weapons that gamers can use and the way the various categories are balanced.

Bungie is also promising that it will introduce more exotics, with two brand-new ones joining updated versions of some that were featured in the past.

This week the development team has introduced a new Refer-a-Friend system that allows a veteran player to take a newcomer under his wing and show him the kinds of experiences that Destiny can offer.

Players who use the new feature can get access to some exclusive emotes, shaders and emblems while also getting to use a range of swords that cannot be obtained anywhere else.
