Arne Exton, the creator of numerous GNU/Linux and Android-x86-based distributions, was more than happy to inform us earlier today about the immediate availability for download of a new build for its DebEX KDE edition distro.

Powered by Arne Exton's special 4.1.0-3-exton kernel, which is based on Linux kernel 4.1.3 LTS, as well as on the latest Debian GNU/Linux 8.1 (Jessie) operating system, DebEX KDE Edition Build 150830 includes all the latest updates and security patches from the upstream Debian software repositories as of August 30, 2015.

Being built around the KDE 4.14.3 and KDE Plasma 5 desktop environments, the new DebEX KDE build does not contain any elements from the Kubuntu or Ubuntu Linux operating systems from Canonical. Instead, Mr. Exton added the proprietary Nvidia 352.41 graphics driver, the Google Chrome web browser so that you can watch Netflix movies out-of-the-box, as well as the SMPlayer video player, replacing VLC Media Player.

"I have made a new version of DebEX KDE Live DVD. It replaces version 150219. It’s a pure Debian 8.1 system. I.e.: There are no Ubuntu or Kubuntu elements involved. DebEX KDE uses KDE 4.14.3 and KDE Plasma Desktop 5:84 as Desktop environment and kernel 4.1.0-3-exton. I have installed Nvidia’s proprietary graphic driver 352.41. Furthermore Google Chrome to make it possible to watch Netflix movies," says Arne Exton.

The DebEX GNOME Edition has been updated as well

Download DebEX KDE Edition Build 150830 right now from Softpedia, where the OS is distributed as a 64-bit Live DVD ISO image that you can write on either USB flash drives or DVD discs. We inform you that the DebEX project features two other editions, one built around the GNOME desktop environment, and another one with Xfce 4.12. All of them are rolling-release distributions, so you don't need to download a new ISO image when a new build is available for download.
