darktable 1.6.4 has been released recently bringing a wide range of improvements, support for new cameras, new white balance presets, new noise profiles, and several updated translations.

darktable is one of the best open-source applications for editing RAW images from digital cameras under a GNU/Linux operating system. The software also works with FreeBSD, Mac OS X, and Solaris OSes.

Version 1.6.4 is a point release of the current stable version of darktable, designed to add new features and improve existing ones. Among the most significant changes being a major rawspeed update.

A great number of issues have been resolved

The Facebook exporter component has been updated to improve the usability of the first authentication, several issues with lensfun cornercase have been fixed, and spots iop were updated.

Additionally, the OpenCL benchmark will not be executed first in order to prevent OpenCL autoactivation if the graphics processing unit (GPU) is slower than the central processing unit (CPU). Various mask cornercase issues were also repaired.

darktable is now compatible with the GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) 5.0, the graphical user interface (GUI) of the zonesystem component has been updated, the gui_language and ui_last were improved to be more reliable, and the Lua requirement was updated to version 5.2.4.

New cameras are supported, and several white balance presets were added

darktable 1.6.4 introduces support for new digital cameras, including Canon 300D (a.k.a. Digital Rebel), Nikon D5500, Olympus E-M5 Mark II, and Samsung NX500. However, please note that the support for the last three cameras is experimental.

The new maintenance release of darktable adds new white balance presets for Sony A77 II, FujiFlim X-E2, and Olympus E-M5 Mark II cameras, and a noise profile for the Canon 7D Mark II DSLR.

Last but not least, the German, Japanese, French, Russian, Dutch, Danish, and Catalan language translations have been updated. Download darktable 1.6.4 right now from Softpedia.
