Video game developer Relic and publisher SEGA are announcing that they are planning to launch a free trial for the upcoming Company of Heroes 2 - The British Forces via Steam, starting at 10 AM Pacific Daylight Time on August 31.

Gamers will be able to play both the classic game and the new content until 2 PM PDT on September 2, one day before the additions will go live for those who have bought them.

The official announcement says that a number of 55,000 players will be able to enjoy Company of Heroes 2 - The British Forces for free, but at the moment it's unclear how they will be selected, although the companies say that players should keep an eye on the official Twitter account.

Gamers who place a pre-order for the new content on Steam will get a 10 percent price cut, and those who already own the base game will get a further 20% discount.

The free trial for Company of Heroes 2 - The British Forces is a great way to show real-time strategy fans and others the kind of experiences that the game can offer and how the newly added faction will offer players more tactical options.

Britain is coming with two approaches to World War II

The British Forces introduces six new commanders that gamers can choose from, each with their unique set of abilities that are activated as a match progresses.

There are also 15 units that are designed to represent the combat style of the British army, including nimble infantry and powerful tanks.

Company of Heroes 2 - The British Forces will allow gamers to choose between Hammer tactics, focused on mobility and aggression, and Anvil, which emphasizes careful defensive work.

Gamers who get the new content will also be able to play on maps included in previous versions of the real-time strategy title and battle against all other factions.

Relic has also talked about a major update for the base version of Company of Heroes 2 that will also arrive in early September, but a full list of changes has not been published yet.

The studio is also rumored to be ready to announce a new Dawn of War title based on Warhammer 40,000 in the coming months.
