The developers of the lightweight and user-friendly Claws Mail GTK-based email client used in many GNU/Linux distributions have announced the release of the major 3.12.0 version.

According to the release notes, Claws Mail 3.12.0 brings dozens of new features, among which we can mention a new plugin, called ManageSieve, which allows users to manage Sieve filters on an email server via the ManageSieve protocol, support for Mac-cyrillic encoding, as well as support for the SCRAM-SHA-1 authentication mechanism for IMAP.

The Filtering/Processing components of Claws Mail have received an increase in the range of age matcher state and make the 'mark_as_spam' function to only mark messages as spam. Additionally, there are a couple of improvements to the compose window, such as better right-click behavior in attachments list and improved labeling for the 'From' line.

Furthermore, Claws Mail 3.12.0 adds the 'Cc' files to the mixed search functionality, introduces per-feed support for HTTP basic authentication in the RSSyl plugin, updates both the man page and the user manual, adds support for displaying signatures' validation in the PGP plugins, and introduces the 'Mark all read recursively' function in the context menu of the folder list.

Approximately 35 bugs have been squashed in this release

In addition to the numerous new features mentioned above, Claws Mail 3.12.0 adds a third spam handling option to the Bogofilter plugin, called 'Only mark as spam,' and greatly improves the layout of the Preferences pages. Starting with this version, Claws Mail now requires the libgdata 0.17.1 or later library for the GData plugin.

Last but not least, approximately 35 bugs that were reported by users since the previous stable release of the software have been fixes, and the Brazilian Portuguese, Hebrew, Slovak, Catalan, Dutch, Czech, Norwegian Bokmål, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, and French language translations have been updated.
