Raincheck will let you know if you should grab an umbrella

Umbrellas love rain, while you usually don't. Sometimes you and your umbrella have to face unexpected weather and have unpleasant experiences since not always you'll know when it's going to rain or not. Well, the Raincheck stack will let you know in time when to pull out the umbrella.

Being in a hurry during autumn and springtime will make you forget your umbrella on rainy days and end up soaking wet at work or back home. The new Raincheck umbrella stack will help you give accurate weather forecasts via blinking LEDs integrated inside a beautiful wooden umbrella stack.

Featuring a line of eight blinking lights that change colors to alert users on the conditions awaiting them outside, Raincheck will let you know if it's necessary to bring the umbrella with you or not. For instance, a steady blue light means you can leave your umbrella at home, while a blinking blue light means that it's raining, and obviously, an umbrella is needed. If you see a blinking white light it means it's snowing so an umbrella is advisable. If the blinking light is red, however, it is probably hell on earth out there so staying inside the house would be preferable.

The weather data source Raincheck uses is taken from Forecast.io and it will refresh its weather update every 15 minutes. Each blinking light means one hour ahead, so eight lights will mean eight hours in advance, which is pretty accurate for an umbrella stand.

All in all, this a pretty nice concept and its founder Nick Jonas is planning to launch the Kickstarter project page in October while probably more helpful house objects will join the Raincheck in usefulness. You can submit an e-mail address to Raincheck's official project page and get notified when the project starts.
