Neofytos Kolokotronis from the Chakra GNU/Linux, a rolling-release computer operating system inspired by Arch Linux, was more than proud to announce a few moments ago, December 17, the availability of the latest KDE packages in the stable software repositories of the distribution.

Therefore, all users of the Chakra GNU/Linux operating system can now update to the latest KDE Plasma 5.5 desktop environment, KDE Applications 15.12.0 software suite, as well as the KDE Frameworks 5.17.0 collection of add-ons for Qt 5.5. Additionally, they're in for a treat, as the Chakra GNU/Linux developers also updated some of the most important applications and core components (see below for details).

"We are happy to announce that the brand new 5.5 series of Plasma releases, more specifically Plasma 5.5.1, is now available in our stable repositories," said Neofytos Kolokotronis. "This quick update that followed the first 5.5 release provides some bug fixes to Plasma users, in addition to the many changes that were introduced in 5.5.0 which aimed at enhancing users' experience."

Mozilla Firefox 43.0, Calligra 2.9.10, and more

As mentioned, the latest stable update pushed to the main software repositories of Chakra GNU/Linux also includes some new versions of some of the most prominent applications and core components. Among these, we can mention the recently released Mozilla Firefox 43.0 web browser, the Calligra 2.9.10 office suite, Vim 7.4.944 text editor, as well as some improvements to SDDM and the Heritage theme.

Chakra GNU/Linux users are being informed that most of the operating system's mirrors will take between 12 and 24 hours to synchronize, after which they are safe to upgrade and get all the goodies mentioned above. Before updating, make sure that the mirror you're using is up to date by running the mirror-check application. More details can be found in today's announcement.
