After Manjaro Linux, it looks like Chakra GNU/Linux users now get the latest software updates with the newest update pack announced by the maintainers on the project's website on February 21, 2016.

As you may know, Chakra GNU/Linux is a rolling OS mostly based on the KDE technologies, which means that the latest update packs bring some of the recently released KDE packages. Therefore, today we inform Chakra GNU/Linux users that they have received KDE Application 15.2.2 and KDE Frameworks 5.19.0.

These are two important updates for the latest KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment, bringing all sorts of improvements to the applications and core components included in the respective suite, such as KDE Applications 15.12.2, which has introduced over 30 recorded bugfixes.

"The latest updates to KDE's Applications and Frameworks series are now available to all Chakra users, together with several other package updates," said Neofytos Kolokotronis. "It should be safe to answer yes to any replacement question by Pacman. If in doubt or if you face another issue in relation to this update, please ask or report it on the related forum section."

LibreOffice 5.0.5, VLC 2.2.2, Kodi 16.0, and many other updates

Besides the usual KDE updates, the latest update pack for Chakra GNU/Linux brings users some of the latest stable software, among which we can mention Kodi 16.0, Chromium 48.0.2564.103, LibreOffice 5.0.5, VLC Media Player 2.2.2, CUPS 2.1.3, os-prober 1.71, mkinitcpio 19, kmod 22, and xf86-video-intel 2.99.917.

The recently released Wine 1.9.4 application is also included, along with an updated Octopi package manager that will no longer run mirror checks during startups, as well as updates to the Aspell group, which includes support for the latest available languages.

In other news, the Chakra GNU/Linux team now provides users with a new, simple mirror status page, where they can check to see when the mirror that's closer to them gets synchronized with the main server so that they can update their installations and receive all of the goodies mentioned above.
