Karanbir Singh, the lead developer and maintainer of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux-derived CentOS distribution has just announced that new ISO images are available for download for the CentOS 7 rolling-release edition.

The CentOS Linux 7 installation and live ISO images released on October 13, 2015, contain all the security patches, bugfixes, and software updates that have been released on the official software repositories of the Linux kernel-based operating system during the month of September 2015.

As part of this release, the developers published new ISO builds for the CentOS Linux 7 64-bit install media (Minimal, Everything, and DVD), CentOS Linux 7 64-bit Live GNOME and Live KDE DVDs, as well as a Live CD, CentOS Linux 7 64-bit Generic Cloud images, CentOS Linux 7 Atomic Host, CentOS Linux 7 64-bit Vagrant and Docker images.

"I am pleased to announce general availability of the September 2015 snapshot for CentOS Linux," says Karanbir Singh. "CentOS Linux rolling builds are point in time snapshot media rebuild from original release time, to include all updates pushed to mirror.centos.org's repositories. This includes all security, bugfix, enhancement and general updates for CentOS Linux."

Existing CentOS 7 users don't need to download the new ISOs

Existing CentOS 7 Linux users are being informed by the operating system's developers that they do not need to download the new ISO images announced in this piece of article if they want to keep their installations up to date. All the updates included in today's ISOs are already available in the default software repositories of the rolling-release OS.

It is also important to mention here the fact that all RPM and YUM repositories will remain on the operating system's official mirror without any changes in either content or layout. Those who wish to install CentOS 7 Linux on new systems can download the ISO images of CentOS 7.1-1509 right now from Softpedia.
