The teams at developer Treyarch and publisher Activision are announcing that they are working with Dark Horse to create a special comic book linked to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, which will serve as a prequel to the video game and will be offered to all those interested on November 4.

Writing duties for the new product will be handled by Larry Hama, who is best known for his work on "G.I. Joe," and art will be created by Marcelo Ferreira, who has worked on both "Transformers" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Dark Horse says that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 comic book is designed to follow the adventures of a group of soldiers who start the story by going into Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to take out a double agent when they come face to face with a new threat.

IGN quotes Larry Hama as stating that "A lot of the appeal of Call of Duty is in how it puts you directly in the action. That’s pretty difficult to replicate in a graphic story format, so the aim in a comic adaptation is to provide more of what you don’t get a lot of in the game."

Apparently, the comic book will offer a lot of character development, and a lot of back story for the team will be introduced.

Dark Horse and Activision have not said whether the protagonists of the story will make an appearance in the actual video game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will also offer an impressive story

Treyarch has been working hard to make sure that the narrative of the coming shooter will be loaded with important questions about the future of humanity and with more emotion than any other previous installment.

The studio wants gamers to think while they are exploring the narrative and to identify with the struggles of the main characters.

The focus of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will continue to be on the multiplayer modes, which are getting a range of changes.

The title will be faster and more dynamic, and there are pre-made character classes for those who are interested in getting into matches without having to spend time preparing their loadout.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be launched on November 6 and can be played on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and older home consoles.
