This is the stable release of Bodhi Linux 3.1.0

Bodhi is an operating system based on Linux that uses a new desktop environment named Moksha. Bodhi Linux 3.1.0 is the first release in the series to use Moksha.

Bodhi Linux has moved to the new Moksha desktop environment after its developer became unsatisfied with the direction of their previous desktop solution, Enlightenment. In fact, you could consider Moksha some sort of fork for Enlightenment E17. The only problem with calling it a fork is the fact that E17 is no longer under development. The new project just picks up where the other ones have left off.

The Bodhi project has been in some of kind of limbo after its main developer left the project for a while. He returned and got the development going again, but for a moment, the fans thought that things were over. In any case, it looks like the project is back on track, with a new desktop, and lots of potential.

Bodhi Linux 3.1.0 is ready for download

A preview version of this distro was released just last week, and developers obviously got everything in working order. Still, if you find any kind of problems with the operating system, you are encouraged to report them back to the developers.

"This release is a bigger deal for the Bodhi team than our previous update releases have been in the past. The reason for this is because this release is the first to use the Moksha Desktop, which we have forked from E17. Because it is built on the rock-solid foundation that E17 provides, even this first release of the Moksha Desktop is stable and is something I feel comfortable using in a production environment," said the developer.

Please keep in mind that the Bodhi Linux 3.0.0 users won't be able to upgrade directly to the new version of the OS. A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Bodhi 3.1.0 right now from Softpedia and take it for a spin.
